Saturday 13 January to Sunday 14 January. Flight to Melbourne.

The flight was from Heathrow Terminal 3 to Singapore and then after a few hours in transit a change to another plane for the onward flight to Melbourne.

Departure was 11.00am Saturday but we all arrived by 7.00 Those on the trip are myself, Edwin, Martin Greening from Dorset, Peter Tindley from Dorset, (Peter T) and Peter Wilson from Arun Adur CTC in Sussex (Peter W) We were soon checked in.

We flew with Singapore Airlines and were welcomed onboard by pretty Stewardesses in long Asian dresses. We flew over Europe with a sheet of cloud covering the Continent. Sunset arrived early as we flew East. We flew in the dark just north of Iran with lights of Iranian towns visible. Then over Afghanistan! Parkinstan and India and down to Singapore.

We had 3 hours and a change of planes in Singapore with time for a shower to freshen up at one of the Transit Hotels.

On the way to the plane a ladies luggage fell over at the exit to the moving walkway which I managed to step around quickly but others started to pile into and Peter T and Martin had to walk backwards on the walkway with looks of gathering panic on their faces. The blockage was soon cleared.

We got on another Singapore Airways Plane to Melbourne and our 3rd breakfast in 24 hours. We crossed the Equator and over Sumatra and over 1000s of miles of the barren interior of Australia and then right over the centre of Adelaide and on to Melbourne. We easily got a minibus sized taxi with room for us and all the Bikes and on to the Hotel.

The flight from London to Singapore was 12 hours followed by 3 hours in transit and a 7 hour flight to Melbourne so 22 hours total.
